In comparison with previous assembly elections, a drop in percentage of voters turnout was witnessed in this election season in Haryana from 68% to 65%. The polling was peaceful in the entire state, except for three places, Nuh, Rohtak and Panipat, where minor clashes were witnessed.
Former Congress Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was confident enough to form a government with comfortable majority. BJP’s incumbent chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also gave positive signals for forming government for 3rd time with a comfortable majority.
Elections were held in all 90 assembly seats on Saturday. 1031 candidates were in the fray. The counting of votes will take place on October 8, 2024.
In Nuh district, minor incidents of group clashes and stone pelting were noticed. Similarly, minor incidents were also reported in Rohtak and Panipat.
As per the exit poll results conducted by Axis My India, the BJP is estimated to get 18-28 seats and Congress 53-65 seats. India Today-C Voter also predicted the exit poll results estimating 20-28 seats to BJP and 50-58 seats to Congress. Dainik Bhasker estimated BJP seats ranging from 15-29 and that of Congress ranging from 44-54. The above estimated results of exit polls show that BJP is trying to defend its turf, while Congress is presumed to be emerging as the main challenger. The only reason behind above predictions seems to be anti-incumbency. But until and unless the results are out on 8th October, the election results estimated by the surveyors cannot be commented upon with the clarity.
