Ministry of External Affairs announced that Dr. S Jaishankar will be attending multi-lateral event-the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Sumit on October 15 and 16 at Islamabad, Pakistan.
Dr. S Jaishankar would lead an Indian delegation to the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Islamabad. It has been clarified by the Ministry that no bilateral meeting is on agenda for India- Pak relations. Typically, the Prime Minister attends such high-level meetings with Heads of state, but it changes sometimes, said the Minister.
Dr. S Jaishankar will be the 1st External Affairs Minister to visit Pakistan since Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan in 2015. In August 2016, Rajanath Singh, the then Union Home Minister had visited Pakistan.
